About Holbox Island

Holbox is located right in the site in which come together the waters of the Caribbean Sea with the ones of the Gulf of Mexico, in the top north corner of the State of Quintana Roo, México. This is the exotic home to all type of plants, animals, idyllic landscapes and the friendly islanders.

Located to the northwest of the Yucatan Peninsula, 2 hours far from the city of Cancún (approximately 1 and a half hour highway and 20-minute ride crossing in boat) and 3 hours far from the city of Mérida (approximately 2 hours and a half highway plus 20-minute ride crossing in boat). Arriving to the town of Chiquilá, you have to take the collective boat, that has a price of $ 60.00 MXN (Mexican pesos) per person, and makes a journey of 20 to 25 minutes approximately, or if you prefer, you also can rent a private boat that takes approximately 15 minutes with a cost (during day and until 7:00 p.m.) of $ 350.00 MXN (Mexican pesos) by boat, After this schedule, the cost usually is of $ 450.00 MXN (Mexican pesos).

We also can arrange for you a private service of transportation from Cancún Downtonw or from the Cancún International Airport, to Chiquilá, then cross to the island (it can be on round trip basis).
